Team TLA complete Manchester Half Marathon for charity

Team TLA completed the Manchester Half Marathon on Sunday – the second of our three endurance challenges to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Last month, our team took part in a gruelling three-day cycle from London and Liverpool and we have the full New York Marathon coming up in November.

This time, however, it was 13 miles on foot around the city of Manchester and we had four TLA teammates taking part: Abel, Anton, Neil and Phil.

The running club (from left to right): Anton, Phil, Neil and Abel.

They did it! All four of our runners completed the race in fantastic times:

  • Abel – 1:52:02
  • Anton – 1:49:47
  • Neil – 1:17:38
  • Phil – 2:07:09

They coped brilliantly and, while there are some stiff limbs and sore feet around the office this morning, they assure us it was worth it. Well done to the fab four – we’re feeling proud!

This brings us nicely to our amazing and worthy cause: Macmillan. To date, we’ve raised £3,669 for Macmillan via our JustGiving page and we are doing everything we can to get that fund higher.

If you’re able to make a donation, however small, it will be greatly appreciated by not only everyone taking part in our three challenges but the whole team at The Lead Agency.

For those who have done so already, thank you so much. We’re making a difference!

TLA CEO nominated for top entrepreneur award

We are excited to announce that our CEO Anton Hanley has been nominated for the NatWest Great British Entrepreneur Awards.

The awards exist to acknowledge the hard work and inspiring stories of British entrepreneurs and businesses in Great Britain. It features multiple categories that are split across five cities representing different parts of the country.

Anton has been shortlisted in the Scale-up Entrepreneur of the Year category for Manchester (North West) which focuses on entrepreneurs that have led significant growth for their company.

Creator of the Awards, Francesca James, said: “We have been inundated with some incredible entries this year, and all shortlisted applicants should be extremely proud of themselves! This year has seen a record number of entrants and we’ve been absolutely blown away by the strength and diversity of applications.”

“We cannot wait to celebrate entrepreneurship across Great Britain with them, and put a spotlight on the incredible talent within the British entrepreneur ecosystem.”

Now in its fifth year, the NatWest Great British Entrepreneur Awards has celebrated some amazing entrepreneurs over the years, many of whom are now household names. Past winners include David Buttress of Just Eat, Julie Deane of The Cambridge Satchel Company, James Watt of BrewDog and Alexander Solomou of TheLADBible Group.

‘Entrepreneurial spirit’

Gordon Merrylees, Head of Entrepreneurship at NatWest said: “I want to thank all of the entrepreneurs who entered this year and congratulate those who have been shortlisted, I look forward to seeing them at the regional finals.”

“It is clear that entrepreneurial spirit is alive and well and NatWest is thrilled to be able to support these awards to celebrate success with the businesses that are the lifeblood of the UK Economy as they start, scale and succeed.”

TLA signs up to three-part challenge for Macmillan Cancer Support

We love a physical challenge at The Lead Agency, especially when there’s a worthy cause we can help in the process.

That’s why we’ve committed to a three-part endurance challenge between September and November to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Macmillan are on a mission to reach and inprove the lives of everyone living with cancer and to inspire millions of others to do the same. To play our part in helping their cause, members of the TLA team will be cycling from London to Liverpool (our two UK offices) before running in both the Manchester Half Marathon and the full New York Marathon. We hope to raise at least £5,000 for the charity.

Why this challenge?

As a technology business, a lot of our day is spent in the office. But we do lots to keep ourselves fit and healthy including weekly personal training sessions, squash games, five-a-side football, gym memberships and a cycle-to-work scheme. It was important that we found a change – or in this case three – that would push us physically but encourage different members of the team to get involved. That’s exactly what the TLA Triple Challenge provides!

Key dates
  • 7th, 8th and 9th September – London to Liverpool cycle
  • 15th October – Manchester Half Marathon
  • 5th November – TCS New York Marathon

We know there are a lot of worthy causes out there, so any donation you can make would greatly appreciated by all at TLA. Thank you.
